Choose a Committee
An intermittent committee that works with different town institutions to organize a program where floral designs are created to depict paintings, statues, book themes, and other non-floral items.
By-Laws / Nominating
A dual-purpose committee that ensures the club by-laws are updated as needed to accurately reflect club function and carries out the executive board nominations and inductions.
Civic Gardening Group (formerly ACE: Action Committee for the Environment)
Activities include new plantings and maintenance of existing plantings, seasonal cleanups (Fall/Spring/Summer), holiday decorations on Town Common and municipal buildings, and supporting grant awards by implementing planting projects
Community Education & Arbor Day
Provides Arbor Day program to third grade students at the Center School, seeks Arbor Day program funding from the Tewksbury Cultural Council Grant program, and develops environmentally focused educational materials to be provided to the community at the yearly Fall Festival and to club members at meetings.
Dine-Out Nights
This committee arranges dine-out fundraising events for club members and friends to participate in. Restaurants are selected on specific days and proceeds from the sale of food are awarded to the club.
Garden Therapy (Blaire House & Bayberry)
These two committees share their gardening-oriented craft knowledge and skills to senior citizen populations at assisted living communities during guided sessions.
Greenhouse
The Greenhouse crew plans work that supports the plant sale and the Civic Gardening Group. All club members assist with this work. This group also plans how the greenhouse can be used for various club events.
Happy Travelers
This committee organizes fun and educational travel opportunities for club members outside of regularly scheduled meeting times.
Historian
The club has a rich history that is preserved on paper and in digital format and maintained in an archive. Club members assist in this recording effort by providing photos and ‘club members in the news’ information to the historian.
Horticulture
This committee prepares and provides brief monthly information related to horticulture, such as tips on indoor and outdoor gardening, landscape maintenance, and other seasonal information.
Hospitality
This committee organizes refreshments for each monthly meeting. Duties include pre-meeting setup and provision of condiments, beverages, and paper goods. Table decorations for monthly meetings are provided by this committee.
Literary Blooms
Monthly floral designs are created by club members for display at the Tewksbury Public Library.
Newsletter Coordinator
This committee creates and emails an internal electronic monthly newsletter with content that includes meeting news, club activities, committee updates, and other relevant information.
Photographers
Club photographers are charged with recording club events in pictures and video. The photographer(s) will share their pictures and videos for inclusion on social media pages and website.
Publicity
The publicity committee provides the GCFM with Mayflower notices and stories of club activities. Notices of upcoming events are shared to local newspapers.
Scholarships
Two scholarships are provided by the club. The scholarship committee reviews applications and determines award recipients.
Social Media Group
This committee will create and share club events and gardening-related posts to various social media accounts.
Sunshine
This committee welcomes new members (introductions, mentoring, and information) and sends cards or appropriate correspondence to members on the occasion of a birth, marriage, illness, death, or other significant event.
Website Maintenance
This committee will maintain a public website with club information.
Winter Tree Walk
This committee will manage the club’s participation in the community Winter Tree Walk.
Wreath Fundraiser
This committee will manage the the winter fundraiser.
Yearbook
Information is gathered from the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, the TGC Executive Board, committee chairpersons, and club members to include: dates o meetings, events or other club functions, member information, changes to committees, and other updates.
