A ‘Trick’ for an Alternative Floral Design ‘Treat’ment. Cathy and Marie will give us an introduction to ecofriendly floral designing. Members will make and take home a fall floral arrangement using one of the demonstrated methods.

Floral Fantasy Tour with Lisa Oberholtzer-Gee. Floral design demonstrations by New York City based designer Lisa Oberholzer-Gee. After studying floral design at Longwood Gardens, Oberholzer-Gee started businesses in Cambridge MA & NYC creating displays for events, and private functions. Intrigued with floral design techniques from Europe and Asia, Oberholzer-Gee has incorporated them into her floral art.

We welcome Jane Newhouse, founder of Newhouse Wildlife Rescue. NWR is a rehabilitation facility for injured and orphaned wildlife in Chelmsford. They are dedicated to providing the highest care to local wildlife from our surrounding area. NWR also educates the public on how to co-exist with the wild animals in our community.

Now Where Did I Plant That? Join us in a fun craft to map out your perennial garden. Our artist Marie will help us paint flowers and their botanical names on smooth rocks. The rocks will be clear coated to provide protection from the weather for year-round enjoyment and will be picked up at the March meeting.

Identifying Common Invasive Plants. Kathy McInnis will share her knowledge of invasive plant species to enlighten members about what to look for in their own backyards. Invasive plants compete with native plants and should be removed. We will learn how to recognize and remove these plants.

Vegetable Gardening 101. Master Gardener Gretel Anspach will present different types of vegetable gardens and discuss layout, variety choices and various growing techniques.

Share Your Container Recipe. What’s a container recipe? It’s a list of plants that you use to create your successful, eyepopping home planter! Send a picture of your container creation along with a list of the plants you use to Susan. This will be transformed into a slide presentation to show and showoff to the rest of the club. No picture? Send your combo recipe anyway to include in our night. Judy and Marie will demonstrate how to make the perfect container.
